Prostate cancer is rare in India, low risk attributed to diet rich in brassica family vegies & turmeric. Scientists tested turmeric, a source of phytonutrient curcumin, with phenethyl isothiocyanates, (found in cruciferous vegies cauliflower, cabbage, broccoli, kale).
Both phenethyl isothiocyanate & curcumin greatly retarded prostate cancer cells in mice. In established prostate tumors, neither by itself had protective effect, but combined, significantly reduced tumors & ability to spread.?
